Have you ever entered a clothing store, scanned the pieces and walked away with a slouched back and a pout on your face? The worst part about it is not that you can't afford it or that the design isn't for your age. It just simply doesn't fit. No matter how much you try to gain or lose weight, the smallest or biggest size available is not your own. This has been a constant problem for women of all ages. We all want to conform to what society dictates as beauty but how can we become confident when we are not happy with what we wear? Now, I can gladly say that it does not have to be like this. There is a solution to end this viscious cycle of insecurity.
On June 4, 2015, I found myself sitting in the shop of Ms. Tina Lirag.
Being the third generation successor of New Yorker and Romack, she has gained much experience about the different sewing processes, designing a wide selection of clothing and the latest fashion trends. When I came in her door, I was caught by the greatest surprise of my life when she said, "Let's get started on designing a few pieces". I couldn't believe it! Ms. Tina was giving me the opportunity to come up with my very first clothing collection! <3
Ms. Tina offers different packages inclusive of a variety of pieces you can create. What I received was the Junior Collection which was composed of 2 dresses, 1 pair of pants, 1 skirt, 2 tops and 1 jacket. The process was systematic but spontaneous all at once. She gave me a paper to fill up as we went through the whole experience. To start off, I had to encircle exactly what I wanted or needed. Was it a jumpsuit, a maxi skirt, or a top? Once I had my top 7 choices, I went on answering my usual style and what season or trend my collection was going to be like.
The best part about this "Design Your Own Collection" adventure was that there was no holding back. I could scroll through different photos from Instagram and point out what I wanted from one dress and from the other. I didn't have to limit myself to just one color or fabric that made my skin feel uncomfortable. For the first time, I could choose exactly what I wanted to wear with the reassuring knowledge that it would perfectly fit me. :)
So what are you waiting for? Head on over to Tina's shop and come up with your own unique collection of everyday, semi-formal or formal outfits! For more information about how to contact Tina, where to find her or any other inquiries, please feel free to send me an email at silhouette.search@gmail.com or compose a message on Facebook. Take a look at some of Ms. Tina's toppers! Don't you just want to own one? :)
Look at all the swatches and fabrics! It took me so long to decide on anything!
And here's a sneak peek of my collection! What do you think? :)
I'd like to thank these two lovely ladies for helping me get my measurements right! :)
To see the designs I came up with, stay tuned in for my future event posts - I'll be wearing them then! :)
One huge thank you to Ms. Tina Lirag for making one of my dreams come true! I can't wait to show you all of my new pieces :)
